The Gahanna Department of Planning & Development works with new and expanding businesses to encourage their growth and success. Listed below are some of the programs offered by the City for which your company may be eligible:

Community Reinvestment Area (CRA) Program

The CRA Program offers real property tax abatement to new or expanding facilities. The term and percentage of tax abatement is based on project investment, the number of jobs created/ retained, and annual income tax paid to the City. Maps for Zone 1, Zone 2, Zone 3, Zone 4 and Zone 5 are available for determining eligible properties, and you can click here for the CRA application form.

Residential Incentive

A component of the CRA Program - Zone 5, allows residential property owners to receive property tax abatement for new construction or renovation of residential properties. The amount and term of tax abatement is based on the type of dwelling, total cost of improvements and potential increase of property value assigned by the Franklin County Auditor as a result of improvements.

  • 10 years for the remodeling of every dwelling containing not more than 2 family units and cost of remodeling is at least $2,500.
  • 12 years for the remodeling or expansion of every dwelling containing more than 2 units and cost of remodeling is at least $5,000.
